Winter 1999/2000

A fox, a rabbit, a raccoon and a dog.

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Buy fur trim and you'll never know.
All these animals, including dogs, are killed for fur trim sold in the USA. The only thing you'll know for sure is that they suffered terribly. WHY BUY FUR?

The above advertisement appeared in Boston subways over the winter of 1999/2000, and in several issues of the Boston Globe. This ad focuses on the fact that much fur trim sold in the USA is actually dog and cat fur from Asia. (Read about the Humane Society's investigation into dog and cat fur sold in the USA.)

Mother fox with kit.

WHAT THE FUR INDUSTRY DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW: Animals caught in leghold traps are clubbed, stomped or drowned. Animals raised for fur are gassed, poisoned or electrocuted. There is no "animal-friendly" way to produce fur.

Versions of the above advertisement appeared in the Boston Globe during the spring of 1999. We also mailed this out as cards that people could post on bulletin boards.
